The
OLS 1 Series of LED light sources are inexpensive, practical instruments designed
for performing insertion loss measurements on fiber optic links when used with
an optical
power meter. The OLS 1 is easy to operate with only a power switch and a wavelength
select
slide switch. The power switch will illuminate when on and flashes to indicate
a low battery
condition. The LED outputs are stabilized to ensure accurate test results. Weighing
only 4.5
ounces, the OLS 1 is compact and convenient for field use. The OLS 1 operates
over 80
hours from a typical 9V alkaline battery. An AC adapter is optional for extended
use.
features
• 850 and 1300 nm LED (multimode)
light sources (660 nm available)
• Certify 50 or 62.5 µm multimode
fiber links for any 850 or 1300 nm
application, including Gigabit Ethernet
(GBE)
• Includes 50 and 62.5 µm mandrels
• Low cost, easy to use
• Hand held, portable
• Long battery life
• SC/ST swappable output adapter
(OLS1-Dual)
• Easy cleaning of output ferule
(OLS1-Dual)
The
OLS 2 laser source series offers excellent stability and portability for accurate
fiber
optic testing. Five versions of the OLS 2 are offered for measurements at 1310
nm,
1550 nm, 1625 nm, and dual wavelength (1310/1550 nm) and (1550/1625 nm). These
compact units operate in either continuous wave (CW) mode or 2 kHz modulated
mode.
The laser sources operate on disposable batteries or AC adapter. The optical
output is via
a top panel FC, SC, ST or other style connector if requested.
features
• Rugged, portable unit
• Designed for field use
• 1310, 1550, 1625 nm and
dual wavelengths
• Modulated 2 kHz or CW
• Adjustable output
OLS
4 Integrated Laser and LED Light Source
The
OLS 4 is an integrated, two-port LED and Laser light source. The LED output
may be
operated at 850 or 1300 nm while its Laser output can operate at 1310 or 1550
nm. Thus
the OLS 4, with any optical power meter, can be used to certify attenuation
on multimode
or single-mode optical fiber links respectively per current TIA/EIA requirements.
Both the
multimode and single-mode output ports are equipped with removable adapters
to allow
output connectors to be inspected and cleaned. Controls are provided to allow
the user to
easily adjust output level at each wavelength. The OLS 4 may be ordered with
SC, FC, or
ST output ports.
features
• Small, rugged, integrated LED and Laser light source
• Operates at 850, 1300, 1310, and
1550 nm
• Test multimode and single-mode links
per TIA/EIA standards
• Adjustable output levels
• CW or tone on single-mode output
• Available with the OPM 5-2C as a test kit Model SMLP 5-5
HiLite
and VFI2 Visible Fault Identifiers
The
HiLite and VFI 2 are compact but powerful visible red laser sources designed
to
troubleshoot faults on fiber optic cables. Light generated by these units will
escape from
sharp bends and breaks in jacketed or bare fibers, as well as poorly mated connectors.
They can identify faults in fiber optic jumper cables, distribution frames,
patch panels, and
splice trays.
features
• 650 nm visible red laser source
• Compact size
• Universal connector interface for quick
connection
• High power (1 mW)
MT
Tracer 12-Fiber Visible Laser Source & Display
The
MT Tracer is a compact multi-fiber visual fault identifier (red laser source)
supporting
8 or 12 fiber MTP® connections. The user simply connects the 12-fiber cable
directly
to the unit. Fibers can be tested individually or all at once. By progressing
sequentially
through the fibers, cables can be quickly checked for polarity by verifying
the proper order
at the output.
features
• Viewing safe for eyes
• CW or 2Hz output
• Direct connect - No fan-outs necessary
• Test 8 and 12 fiber MTP® assemblies
• Test polarity, continuity, and fiber
mismatch
