The 3M TMDynatel TM Qualification Test Sets 949 & 950ADSL provide a low cost solution for POTS testing and verification of ADSL modem connectivity at customer locations.

The 3M™ Dynatel™ 965DSP Subscriber Loop Analyzer is a microprocessor-controlled integrated test set that provides full-featured POTS and wideband testing. The functions include fault location and repair verification on twisted-pair, quad and coaxial cable (utilizing capacitance bridge, resistance bridge and Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) functions).

The Dynatel 965DSP subscriber loop analyzer executes a wide range of individual tests, or performs automatic test routines to categorize and sectionalize problems. Specific tests and measurements performed by the unit include:
• Voltage – detects and measures the presence of central office (exchange) or foreign DC or AC voltages.
• Tone – provides test tones for conductor identification and transmission testing. 10 default tones, user selectable as ID tone, voiceband, or wideband. Wideband goes up to 1.2 MHz, voiceband to 20 kHz, ID tone to 1000 Hz.
• Current – measures DC loop current.
• Resistance – measures conductor and insulation
resistance up to 1000 megohms.

The 3M™ Dynatel™ 2273 Advanced Cable/Fault Locator is
a microprocessor-based system that incorporates advanced
digital signal processing techniques to quickly and
efficiently locate sheath (earth return) faults and trace the
path of underground cables, both copper and fiber optic
(with metallic trace wire). Lightweight, compact and wellbalanced,
the 2273 cable/fault locator accurately:
• Locates cable path
• Measures cable or sonde depth with the push of a button
• Measures signal current in the cable
• Pinpoints sheath faults and cable breaks
• Discriminates between light and heavy faults

Accurate even in congested areas. 3M Dynatel EMS iD Marker Locators are unaffected by metal conduit or pipe, metallic conductors, fences, AC power or electronic markers for other utilities. Multiple ID markers located at close proximity can be read individually using the new system.

Designed to be more accurate, faster and more integrated than
ever before, the 3M Dynatel EMS iD Marker Locators allow you to accurately and easily:
— Locate, read and write to ID markers
— Pin-point the exact depth and location of all existing models of properly installed underground passive EMS markers

Advanced features detect more information about underground utilities. A new feature exclusive to the 3M Dynatel EMS iD Marker Locators is the ability to read, write and lock programmed information into the new 3M 1400 Series EMS iD Ball Markers. Information such as a pre-programmed unique identification number, facility data,
owner information, application type, placement date and other details from up to 100 ID markers can all be read, stored with date/time stamp and transmitted back to your
PC through a standard RS232 serial port for enhanced resource management.

The 3M™Dynatel™ 2210E Cable Locator pinpoints the
exact path of underground cables and conductors.
Lightweight and easy to use, the Dynatel 2210E cable
locator quickly and accurately:
• Locates cable path
• Measures and displays cable and sonde depth with the
push of a button
• Measures relative signal current in the target cable
• Locates power cable with direct readout of cable depth
• Detects 50/60 Hz power (user-selectable) without the
transmitter

Application-Specific Design. 3M 1400 Series EMS iD Ball Markers are available in seven standard frequencies, color coded to APWA standards to quickly signify the application: telephone, gas, CATV, power, water, wastewater and a new general-purpose application. These markers are readable to a maximum buried depth of five feet. The ID markers can be located by the previous generation of locators, but can only be read and written to using the new 3M Dynatel 1420 and 2200M-iD Series Locators.
